My NixOS environment, dotfiles, modules, and system config, all in one repo.

Open-source NixOS config, published January 2024

Available on Web. Shipped .

What it is

My personal NixOS configuration, managed entirely in Nix. It covers the full system: packages, services, shell, editor setup, and per-host tweaks, all declared, version-controlled, and reproducible.

The repo is the single source of truth for every machine I run. One rebuild applies everything. Nothing lives outside the config.

The problem it solves

Managing packages and flakes in NixOS by hand gets verbose fast. Every new tool means hunting for the right attribute path, writing the derivation manually, and hoping the flake input resolves cleanly across machines.

I wanted my config to be the kind of thing I could hand to a fresh install and trust -- so I built NixStore, my own package manager layer on top of Nix, to make adding and managing packages and flakes straightforward.

My role

Sole developer - every module, every option, every commit. Personal configuration project with no collaborators.

Why I built it

I got tired of the gap between what NixOS promises (reproducible, declarative systems) and how painful it is to actually wrangle packages and flake inputs by hand.

NixStore is my answer to that -- a thin layer that makes the common operations simple without hiding what Nix is doing underneath. NixPresso is the configuration that runs on top of it.
